As the Music Ministry Keyboardist, you will have the opportunity to use your musical talents by playing keyboard/organ for Sunday worship services (two per Sunday), choir rehearsals, and special events. You will collaborate with our talented musicians and vocalists to create beautiful and engaging worship that uplifts and inspires our congregation as your act of service to our Lord.

 Ideal candidates will have experience playing the piano/keyboard and various styles of music, sight-reading skills, and the ability to play by ear, the ability to adapt to different musical arrangements, professed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and spiritual maturity to minister through music. JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Music Ministry Keyboardist

POSITION REPORTS TO: Director of Worship and Arts

STATUS: Full Time

Salary: $41, 600 - $52,000 annually

PURPOSE:

The Music Ministry keyboardist plays for Sunday worship services (two services per Sunday), including accompanying the choir; play keyboard for choir rehearsals; and collaborate with Director of Worship and Arts to plan music for worship services.

The ideal candidate for the position can play the piano and has demonstrated spiritual maturity and character consistent with the biblical requirements for church ministries; has professed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and has demonstrated evidence of faithful service to the Lord Jesus Christ through the church or other Christian faith-based organizations. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide musical accompaniment for choirs in worship services every Sunday from 7am-1230 p.m.
  • Provide music for rehearsals (Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:30-8p and Saturdays before 3rd & 4th Sundays.
  • Provide input to music ministry strategies and goals, collaborate with other staff members to achieve intergenerational music experiences.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent piano/keyboard skills with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience
  • Ability to play by ear and read music.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma
  • Familiarity with digital keyboard
  • Minimum 3 years of band or choral experience, either as a singer or accompanist or training in a gospel music environment
  • Demonstrated ability to support choir rehearsals and performances
  • Comprehensive understanding of music and hymns across diverse Christian traditions
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with the Director of Worship and Arts, Choir Director(s) Media Team, and church staff for comprehensive worship planning
  • Ability to integrate music seamlessly into worship services
  • Must be consistently available on Sunday mornings, and during major Christian Holidays
  • Must be available to work a flexible weekly schedule to facilitate some weeknight and Saturday rehearsals
    • This includes providing support for church-wide events and special worship services
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and volunteers
  • Reliable, timely, and collaborative
  • Experience playing in-person, virtually, and with hybrid models
  • Professed faith in Jesus Christ

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in music or related field
  • Basic audio setup and troubleshooting experience with mixers
  • Professional network of musicians in the local community
  • Capability to secure appropriate substitutes when absent
  • Versatility in leading small instrumental ensembles
  • Proficiency in additional instruments (e.g., organ)
